Literature is translation – translation is literature: all the Edition Delta books are poetical works with their German translations. Since the modernist avant-garde at the beginning of the 20th century, the new poetry of Latin America and the Iberian peninsula has developed a creative wealth unequalled until the 21st century and related with works and names little known here.
Among these, great and resonant modern classicists such as Rubén Darío, Juan Ramón Jiménez, António Ramos Rosa, Miquel Martí i Pol, Roberto Juarroz, José Emilio Pacheco, Haroldo de Campos or Juan Gelman who visited the International Frankfurt Book Fair in 2010 dedicated to Argentina, and new talents like Alberto Szpunberg, Maria-Mercè Marçal, Andrés Sánchez Robayna or Juan Manuel Roca and the lusophone poets Conceição Lima and Ana Paula Tavares from Africa. Besides Latin American, Spanish, Portuguese and Catalan titles a Korean series has been started casting curious looks towards the Far East – the periphery of world literatures forming the centers of creative innovation.
Since 2005 all the bilingual books of the Stuttgart Edition Delta have been printed on special creation paper. So far translations have been published from Arabic, German, French, Catalan, Korean, Maya-K’iche‘, Portuguese, Sephardic, Spanish and Vietnamese.
